Default Armor to ectos

I was thinking to myself not to long ago about clearing out some space, I have two sets of FoW for my warrior and now I only use 1. I was wondering if I decided to salvage the armor for the mats if it was possible to get ectos and what the chances were. Please help me if possible!

you might get a few but not many. a guildie rage salvaged a set a while back and didnt get that many. imo it would be better to keep the set unless you can afford losing 1.2 mil.

You do get ectos. But the thing is, why bother with two sets of FoW armour when they look the same?

Can you get different mods?

Well, he's already "lost" 1.2 million by buying the second set of FoW armor. Right now, that 1.2M is sunk in his second set and won't do him any good. If he salvages it, he'll at least get a chance of ectos back.

If you have a higher level Wisdom or Treasure Hunter title, your chances improve. Herbalizer's right about only getting a few back. If you get any ectos back at all, don't expect anywhere near 120.

Hmmm, yes you can get different set mods, I've got Glads and Dreds. And I'm not expecting 120. I wish I could get them back lol but I'd be happy with 20-30 though I realize that may be a little much.

as ectos are rare materials you made need to expert salvage the armor to get them. as im not 100% sure you would get rare materials with "normal" salvages. however if there are runes on the armor pieces and you expert salvage you may get runes instead.

With the new salvage options, you'll only get runes if you want runes. By selecting the crafting materials option, it will only salvage for materials. It'll still be a coin toss to if you get ecto or not, but it's better than nothing.

Honestly, if you can afford the storage space, I'd keep the second suit. You never know when you may need a second type of armor, or if you come up with a build that would make better use of one set over another. This is why I'm keeping my 15k Stance Canthan set as well as my 1.5k Druid's set as well as my 1.5k Health Luxon set. Different builds need different armors.

or he could simply save up the cash and get a 3rd set of the inscribable FoW, then he just needs to change inscriptions in the future.

I don't get it, many people don't even have enough money to buy 15K armor, and yet, here someone has managed to buy 2 sets, AND wants to salvage one

You have a greater chance of getting ectos/shards now that the salvaging system is improved. Expert salvage for crafting materials and you will either get iron ingots, ectos, shards or the other material that was required for that particular set. The number of material you will salvage will be approximately one third of what you gave to the forgemaster.

E.g. The chest piece costs 45 ectos, so you can get 15 ectos from it.

There's me getting a slap across the head for salvaging my mesmer's FoW.
